Mullet Academy ☆
Your music career starter pack.
Mullet Academy works to even the playing field for musicians. We heard talks from venue owner and music teacher Lincoln Lim, music lawyer Xandra van Heesch of PlusOne Legal, Amsterdam event programmer Bandgurl666, and fellow independent musician Sven Ross.
It was a day of learning to make a solid living through music, meeting other fellow musicians and potential collaborators, and taking charge of our artistry in a world that’s increasingly making that harder to do.
Plus, there was pizza.
Does that sound like something you’d be interested in? Let me know below and I’ll look into doing another one.
About the academy
-
We all deserve have a fair shot at a career in music. Mullet Academy invites those who are doing it themselves to teach how you can pay your rent without compromising your love of music. It’s all real-world, practical, accessible knowledge from folks in all corners of the industry.
The mission is to democratise music industry knowledge, build community, and empower independent artists and creatives to build a sustainable life through music.
-
Independent musicians are expected to do everything from social media, to booking, managing, promoting, album cover art, rollout schedules, playlisting… the list goes on. This, along with most music education in The Netherlands being largely in Dutch, makes it pretty hard to succeed as an international musician in The Netherlands.
But creatives just want to stay independent, get paid, and stay sane. Mullet Academy aims to help you achieve just that through honest, non-hierarchical conversation rooted in experience, all in a real, personal way.
-
This isn’t just for musicians, it’s for everyone! Aspiring bookers, managers, musicians, even music lawyers, everyone is welcome. There are literally no previous requirements, just a love for music.
All genres, all backgrounds, all experience levels welcome.
